2. Importance
of
the
dreaming
to
the
life
of
the
aboriginal
people
Many
aspects
of
the
dreaming
is
what
gives
aboriginal
people
an
understanding
of
the
focal
point
of
their
religion.
It
is
this
centre
of
belief
that
there
spiritual
and
communal
life
is
provided
with
the
idea
of
how
the
world
works.
Such
aspects
of
the
dreaming
include:
the
aboriginal
connection
the
their
land,
rituals
and
art
and
story
telling.
3. Aboriginal
Connec5on
to
the
land.
This
involves
the
aboriginal
people
continuing
to
be
dependent
on
the
natural
environment
for
both
their
physical,
spiritual
and
social
wellbeing.
Land
as
a
more
profound
significance
to
them,
it
is
their
mother
and
because
of
this
the
aboriginal
people
only
take
what
they
need
from
the
land.
“We
don't
own
the
land,
the
land
owns
us.
The
land
is
my
mother,
my
mother
is
the
land.
Land
is
the
starting
point
to
where
it
all
began.
It's
like
picking
up
a
piece
of
dirt
and
saying
this
is
where
I
started
and
this
is
where
I'll
go.
The
land
is
our
food,
our
culture,
our
spirit
and
identity.”
S.Knight
The
dreaming
is
the
relationship
between
ones
self
and
the
mother.
It
is
through
land
that
enables
aboriginal
life
both
physically
and
spiritually,
which
ultimately
is
what
determines
the
past,
present
and
the
future
for
beings.

5. Rituals
and
art
This
aspect
is
one
that
involves
the
expression
of
ones
thoughts
and
the
passing
on
of
stories.
Such
forms
of
art
include
dance
within
rituals
ceremonies,
visual
arts
and
crafts,
language
and
lore,
which
is
the
“body
of
knowledge”,
passed
on
through
story
telling.

“Aboriginal
art
is
art
made
by
Aboriginal
people
and
as
much
as
art
can
be
a
physical
object;
an
Aboriginal
mind
and
an
Aboriginal
person
are
works
of
art
and
a
'dreaming'.”
these
art
forms
provide
present
aboriginals
with
the
knowledge
of
their
past
and
how
the
earth
came
to
be.
It
is
through
these
rituals,
dance
and
lore
that
the
understanding
of
the
dreaming
is
kept
and
passed
down
from
generation
to
generation.
It
is
through
this
word
of
mouth,
that
the
life
of
the
dreaming
is
brought
into
power,
additionally
through
the
songs
sung,
the
dances
danced,
the
rituals
performed,
and
symbols
drawn
that
the
indigenous
Australians
experience
the
importance
of
the
dreaming.
6. Rituals
and
art-‐con5nued
One
major
event
is
the
Corroboree.
During
this
event
the
art
of
dot
paint
and
dance
is
present.
Dance
is
present
as
the
aboriginal
people
do
this
for
the
dreaming
for
thanks.
It
is
through
aboriginal
paintings
that
the
offering
of
the
corroboree
is
represented,
an
example
of
a
painting
is
this
one
shown
here
by
Beatrix
Dixon.
7. This
is
another
visual
representa5on
of
the
symbols
used
in
art.

10. Kinship
Kinship
is
another
aspect
that
is
important
for
aboriginal
life
as
it
is
the
key
characteristic
of
aboriginal
cultures
and
values.
This
characteristic
includes
the
importance
of
all
relationships,
and
the
relationship
and
belonging
to
the
land.
This
is
extremely
essential
for
aboriginal
life
as
it
the
law
that
governs
the
social
interaction,
particularly
marriage,
in
traditional
Aboriginal
culture.
11. The
Importance?
Aboriginal
dreaming
is
extremely
significant
for
aboriginal
life.
It
is
important,
as
it
is
so
many
different
meanings
for
aboriginal
tribes.
It
is
through
the
dreaming
that
gives
aboriginal
people
meaning
to
the
essence
of
their
beliefs
about
creation
and
spiritual
and
physical
existence.
Australians
are
linked
to
the
past,
present
and
future
and
it
is
because
all
of
the
aspects
that
belong
to
the
dreaming
that
establish
this
link.
